We took our GSD here monthly for grooming and deshedding for about 5 or 6 months with no issues. The service during that time was satisfactory, however, during our dog's last grooming appointment it was like they didn't even try. He still seemed dirty on his back side and it didn't seem like he was deshedded at all. We called to address the issue, and they let us take him back in the following week for another session, free of charge. But when I went to drop him off he was acting extremely strange. Very different from all the other times we've taken him there. He was extremely anxious, and almost scared. When they came to take him from the lobby he kept whining back at me not wanting me to leave him. Of course, I felt horrible but they assured me he'll be fine so I left. In hindsight, I probably should've listened to my dog's cues and left with him right then....
I recommend shopping around and checking prices for your pets care and regular shots. Good luck
My issue is not with the vet visit itself, but rather with their "emergency contact" arrangement. I was not informed during my visit that the number was that of a staff member that was on vacation, and would not be returning to the area and unreachable until Monday. I left a voicemail early in the morning and did not receive a response from this staff member until seven hours later- via a text message. While I do not fault the doctor for being on vacation, if they are the only emergency contact I would expect them to have a forwarding number in such instances, or at least be available to answer their phone to let patients know who to get in contact with since they are unavailable.
We're new to the area and I am so glad I followed the recommendation from locals to bring my two Boxers to Healing Hands! I used them for boarding in the early summer and both of my furry kids came home as happy as they were when I dropped them off. I was surprised they offered a complimentary bath since they stayed longer than 3 days as I was completely prepared to pay for that service. I recently had to take both of them in for a physical, I was impressed with Doctor Dyess' knowledge and guidance on my concerns. I can't believe how inexpensive the boarding and physicals were either. The exam room was so spacious and comfortable. Grateful we have Healing Hands to take care of our pets!
When I went to pick him up that afternoon, the head vet came out and spoke with me. I was expecting him to comment on my dog's odd behavior but he said he was fine, instead he came to talk to me about how much hair they had to deshed. Anyone one who has a GSD knows that they're notorious for shedding so I found it strange that this veterinarian was making this comment. He told me that I should probably find an "actual groomer" next time, because it took 3 of his staff members to come help with the deshed and the clean up afterwards. It was upsetting as we considered ourselves loyal patrons, but we got the message loud and clear and we will not be taking our pup there anymore.
Went in for what we thought were 2 separate emergencies, on the same day(one dog, one cat). Dr. Dyess treated both of my fur babies quickly. He is very gentle and loving, and my picky about people basset hound loves him. His prices are beyond reasonable(dirt cheap really). His staff is wonderful, and his waiting area and exam rooms are clean and airy. Great place for people who really have an interest in your pets health!!!!
Being new to the area, I chose to visit this vet after my cat suffered a seizure only a few weeks after moving here. While I was there, they were not able to find any specific causes to why he had a seizure other than he had an enlarged heart and severe heart murmur, which I had been aware of previous to the visit. I was told to let him rest and return Monday if he was not improved and given an emergency contact number of a staff member who would be able to help if anything happened in the mean time. I appreciated them taking the time to do this, however, the next day I woke up and my cat was unresponsive. It was a Sunday so the vet itself was closed, so I attempted to call the emergency number and could not get a response. We ended up rushing my cat to Dothan, where we found out he had suffered a stroke, would not recover, and had to put him down.
